Leader - Atlanta Spotlight - Karen Callen
Introducing
Karen Callen
Karen Callen is employed by the Marcus Jewish Community Center of
Atlanta where she works as a Program Director for the Sports, Fitness
and Camps Department at the 19,000-member organization. She also
created the MJCCA's youth gymnastics program and currently coaches
its competitive team.
Karen received her Master's Degree in Kinesiology from the University
of Texas at Austin, and worked as a volunteer graduate assistant
with the Strength and Conditioning Program. She also helped implement
a school-wide physical education and nutrition program for Austin-area
elementary schools.
Karen studied business administration at the University of Georgia
where she received her undergraduate degree and was a member of
the women's swimming and diving team, as a springboard diver.
Prior to pursuing a career in the world of sports, Karen worked
in the insurance brokerage business in San Francisco as both an
employee benefits consultant and as a website editor.
Her other athletic interests and involvements have included competitive
figure skating, gymnastics, tennis, and Olympic weightlifting.
